Julie Katz, LCAT
Primary Clinician & Creative Arts Therapist

Julie Katz, LCAT is a Clinician and Creative Arts Therapist at City Behavioral Health. Julie received her BFA in Drama and her Master's Degree in Drama Therapy, both from NYU. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in both intensive outpatient programs and outpatient clinical settings for both individual and group treatment. 

Julie is trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy by Masha Linehan's Behavioral Tech as well as other forms of behavioral intervention. She is also trained in psychodrama and Developmental Transformations, two embodied forms of Drama Therapy. Additionally, she uses her extensive training in improvisation to work with various organizations to strengthen leadership and communication skills among team members. She is an Adjunct Professor at NYU's Stern School of Business where she co-teaches Improv for Effective Leadership. She also runs Drama Therapy groups for non-profits in NYC.

Julie uses her background in performing, teaching improv and creative arts therapies to help her clients process trauma, navigate difficult life transitions and better understand their mental health challenges. Julie is passionate about merging behavioral and creative intervention to help her client’s learn to regulate their emotions effectively and reach their therapeutic and behavior change goals through creative methods.
