Riley
(she/her)
Therapy Dog
Riley is our beloved therapy dog at City Behavioral Health. A Lab-Boxer rescue, she was trained as a therapy dog by The Good Dog Foundation. Riley has become an invaluable member of the team, helping clients reduce anxiety, especially when discussing sensitive or activating topics. She also supports clients by assisting them in staying grounded during moments of emotional dysregulation, creating a calming and safe environment throughout sessions.
In addition to supporting our clients, Riley contributes to workplace wellness by fostering a positive, stress-reducing atmosphere for our staff. Her presence promotes a sense of calm and connection, benefiting both clinicians and clients alike.
Working with Riley can be formally incorporated into a client’s treatment plan or offered on a more flexible, as-needed basis. We understand that not every client is comfortable around dogs, so Riley joins our team at the office a couple of days per week. We ensure that her involvement aligns with the preferences and therapeutic needs of each individual client, and her participation is always based on mutual comfort and agreement.
With her friendly and sociable nature, Riley enjoys walks in Central Park, meeting new people, and getting belly rubs.
